Real Radiant Life · With Rosaleen
Quiet enough. Long enough. Deep enough.
To discover and reconnect with who you really are.
Bulgaria Mountain Sanctuary · 5–12 September 2026 · Hotel Gela, Rhodope Mountains
“You’ve been so busy building a life. This is the week you remember how to live it.”
Imagine waking up and not immediately reaching for your phone. The room is quiet. The light through the curtains is mountain light — gold and clean and unhurried. There is no alarm. No one needs anything from you yet.
You lie still. And for the first time in longer than you can remember, you don’t feel the weight of everything settling back onto your chest the moment consciousness returns.
That is Tuesday morning. By Friday, people tell me they can’t quite remember what they were so worried about.
There is a particular kind of tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix. The kind that’s still there on Monday morning after a week away. A holiday doesn’t touch it — because the problem isn’t where your body is. It’s what your life has been asking of you, for far too long, without giving enough back.
This retreat exists for that tiredness. Not to paper over it with yoga and mountain views. But to get underneath it — to create the conditions in which something deeper can begin to shift.
The Rhodope Mountains have been doing something to people for centuries. The ancient Greeks called this the Cradle of Orpheus — the place where music, nature, and healing were one and the same thing. You don’t come here to be fixed. You come here to remember who you were before you had to be so capable, so reliable, so constantly on.
Is This Retreat for You?
One is enough
—
You wake at 3am and the thought beneath all the others is: is this it? What was it all for?
—
On paper you have everything. Inside, something has gone quiet — or flat — and you can't quite name it.
—
You've become the engine of everything. Reliable, running, never quite off.
—
You've achieved a great deal. You're beginning to wonder if any of it felt chosen — rather than required.
—
You've had the holidays, the weekends away, maybe therapy. Each one helped. None of it touched the thing underneath.
—
Things are good. Or good enough. But underneath there's a quiet question forming: is this as alive as it gets? You want to keep your life. You just want to feel more fully yourself inside it.
You don’t need to be in crisis. You don’t need to be falling apart. You just need to be honest — in that quiet, private way — that something has shifted.
Sleep improves. For most people significantly. Your body begins to remember what genuine rest feels like — and that it's available to you.
Clarity begins to emerge. Around decisions, directions, things you've been avoiding. Not always fully formed — but clearer than before you arrived.
The gap between your outer and inner life becomes visible. Naming it is the beginning. Many people feel it start to close — at their own pace.
You leave with something concrete. A personal protocol designed around what came up for you during the week. Something to return to on Monday.
Questions you haven't had space to ask begin to surface. What your life has been for. What you want next. For some people the answers form here. For others the retreat plants the seed. Either way, something shifts.
You experience what it feels like to stop performing. Even briefly. That experience becomes the reference point for everything after.
A holiday gives you a break from your life. A retreat gives you a different relationship with it. That distinction matters — because if you’re coming for a break, you’ll find one. But if you’re coming for what this week actually offers, you’ll find something you won’t get anywhere else.
A Holiday
You stop. You rest. You return. The same life is waiting.
You feel better for two weeks.
The laptop comes with you to the pool.
You're at a beautiful candlelit dinner, present in body but mentally back at your desk thinking about your inbox accumulating.
You come back refreshed but unchanged.
This Retreat
You stop. You go deeper. Something begins to shift.
You return with a clearer sense of what matters — and what you want to do differently.
The phone stays in the room. You don't miss it.
The questions you've been too busy to ask begin to surface.
You return rested at a depth a holiday doesn't reach — and knowing yourself more fully than when you arrived.
Each day builds on the last. You wake to mountain air and morning yoga. You walk ancient forest paths. You eat food grown in the soil you’re standing on. You sit by a fire as the mountains turn dark. And in between — in the yoga, the facilitated sessions, the quiet conversations — questions you’ve been too busy to ask begin to find their way to the surface. Not pushed. Not performed. Just finally, unhurriedly, heard.
Why This Place, Specifically
They are doing something to you from the moment you arrive.
The first thing you notice, usually within an hour of arriving, is that your shoulders have dropped. Not because you decided to relax. Because something in the environment has begun to do it for you.
The Rhodope Mountains are ancient pine forest. Cortisol — the hormone your body has been running on — drops measurably. Heart rate slows. Blood pressure falls. The nervous system, which has been locked in chronic high alert, begins to shift into something it hasn't inhabited for years: genuine rest.
Pine forests release natural compounds into the air. When you breathe them in — walking through the trees, sitting on the hotel terrace, sleeping with the window open — your immune system responds. The body begins, quietly and without effort on your part, to repair itself.
The ancient Greeks believed this landscape carried a special frequency — where healing, music, and nature were one and the same thing. They called this the Cradle of Orpheus. They weren't wrong.
By the second morning, most people stop noticing the silence because they've become part of it. By the third day, something in the mind that has been tightly wound begins to loosen. Not because of anything they've done. Because of where they are.
September is the perfect month. Warm days of 18–22°C, long golden light, cool clear evenings made for fires and stars. The summer crowds are gone. The forests begin their autumn turn. The mountains feel as though they belong only to you.
Where You’ll Stay
“Gela” means smile. You’ll understand why within hours of arriving.
The moment you step through the doors, something in your body recognises that it has arrived somewhere different. Not just a different place. Somewhere that feels, from the first moment, like relief. Natural stone, warm wood, the kind of silence that has weight.
In the evenings you’ll sink into sheepskin chairs by a fire while the mountains outside turn from gold to dark. The silence is so complete you can hear the fire thinking.
Your ensuite room is a sanctuary in its own right. Natural materials, warm light, and a view of the valley that you’ll find yourself simply sitting with — not scrolling, not planning, just looking. That will feel strange for about twenty minutes. Then it will feel like the most natural thing in the world.

Maria Athayde
A Sample Week
Each day takes you a little deeper — not by adding more, but by gradually removing what has been keeping you switched on. By Wednesday you’ll notice something unfamiliar: you stopped counting the days. By Friday you won’t want to leave.
The schedule below gives you a sense of the week’s rhythm and everything listed is included. That said, no two retreats are identical — the flow adapts to the group, the weather and the moment. If the mountain calls on a different day, we follow it. You’ll receive everything described, in the order that best serves the week.
Arrival — Let the Mountains Begin Their Work
You arrive. You unpack. You breathe air that doesn't taste of effort. A gentle yoga session to arrive in the body, not perform for it. Welcome dinner — the beginning of something you'll remember. The sauna is waiting. So is your first genuinely deep night's sleep in months.
The First Layer — Exhale
Morning yoga and breathwork — finding your way back to yourself. This evening is extraordinary: 6th September is Bulgaria's Unification Day. The hotel hosts kaba gaida musicians from Gela village, fire and a traditional feast. A melody from this very instrument is on the Voyager Golden Record, sent to the stars in 1977. Tonight you hear it live, under the sky it came from.
Into the Wild Rhodope Landscape
A short morning stretch, then boots on and into the ancient forest. Your local expert guide leads you through paths walked for centuries. A pace that lets you actually notice where you are — a conversation with the landscape, not a challenge. You return tired in the best way. Evening yoga, then deep rest.
The Second Layer — Listen
Morning yoga and breathwork — deep, precise unwinding. A facilitated session: what do you actually want, beneath what you think you should want? This is not therapy. It's listening — to yourself — at a depth ordinary life rarely allows. Evening yoga and the quiet that follows it.
The Third Layer — See
Morning yoga — something has visibly shifted in the room by now. Optional hand analysis: the blueprint you came in with — your design, your gifts, your purpose. Appreciative Inquiry: what's already working? What do you want to move toward? A spacious afternoon — sauna, optional massage, time that belongs to no one but you.
The Fourth Layer — Integrate
Morning yoga — consolidating what the week has given you. A free afternoon. Walk the same path and notice it looks entirely different now. Journal, rest, massage, sauna — or simply sit in the sun and let it settle.
Arrival — Sound, Stillness & Celebration
Morning yoga and breathwork — the room is different to how it was on Saturday evening. Handpan meditation: sound that moves through the chest and quiets what words cannot reach. Your personal protocol — one thing, specific to you, that carries this home. Closing dinner: stories, laughter, the particular warmth of people who've been somewhere real together.
You Leave Different to How You Arrived
A gentle travel-prep yoga — carrying the week into the body for the journey home. Final breakfast. Nobody is quite ready to go. Departures. You take the silence with you. It doesn't leave.
What Past Guests Say
"When I arrived, I was stressed, exhausted, and overwhelmed. The experience turned out to be exactly what I needed — immersed in nature, reflecting deeply, and reconnecting with myself. I left feeling lighter, more grounded, and clear about my next steps. This retreat was a turning point for me."
Beverley Anderson
"This retreat pushed me beyond my comfort zone, but in the best ways. I discovered inner strength I didn't know I had. I left feeling calmer, lighter, and uplifted — a truly life-changing experience."
Michelle Noble
"The time away was exactly what I needed to slow down and reset. My takeaway: to declutter my mind, body and spirit — and make space for great and beautiful new experiences."
Gina Clarke
"I joined for the adventure and connection but found so much more. By the end, I was more connected to myself and others, ready to take on new challenges."

Retreat Facilitator · Integrated Whole-Person Practitioner
I know what it feels like to have a life that looks right on paper and feels wrong from the inside. After 13 years in corporate technology — Oracle, then a global CRM company — I reached a turning point that many of the people I now work with will recognise immediately.
I left. Travelled. Found myself doing a yoga teacher training — not to teach, but because I loved the practice. I ended up teaching full time anyway. And in doing so, discovered that yoga in its fullest sense is a complete architecture for a human life.
That led me deeper — into Clean Language and Symbolic Modelling, scientific hand analysis, Appreciative Inquiry facilitation, Conscious Leadership, and an ILM Level 5 Coaching qualification.
What makes this week different is not any single element. It’s that I work with the whole picture — body, mind, purpose, what’s working, what’s been crowded out — simultaneously. These weeks are not about adding more to your life. They’re about remembering what it feels like when it’s yours.

Practical Details – FAQ
What's included — and what isn't?
Included: 7 nights at Hotel Gela, all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner), the full retreat programme, all listed group experiences, and unlimited steam room and sauna access. Not included: flights, private massages and the optional Scandinavian Spa circuit — all bookable directly with the hotel on arrival.
What is September like in the Rhodopes?
Early September is extraordinary — warm days of 18–22°C, long golden light, cool clear evenings made for fires and stars. The summer crowds are entirely gone. The forests begin their autumn turn. The mountains feel as though they belong only to you.
How do I get there?
Fly to Plovdiv Airport (PDV) — approximately 90km from Hotel Gela, around 1.5 hours by transfer. Direct flights from London Luton with Wizz Air and from London Stansted with Ryanair. Flight time approximately 3 hours 10 minutes. Simply send Rosaleen your flight details when you book — she'll coordinate your pickup directly with Hotel Gela, whose drivers know the roads well. The transfer cost is payable directly to the hotel.
Do I need to be experienced at yoga or particularly fit?
Not at all. Sessions are accessible to every level — the emphasis is on precise, grounding movement rather than performance. The mountain hike is taken at a pace that lets you actually notice where you are. This is not a fitness challenge.
Is this for solo travellers?
It's made for them. Many participants join alone and find that one of the most unexpected gifts of the week is the quality of connection with others. You will be warmly welcomed from the first evening — and by Saturday, "alone" won't quite be the right word.
How many people will be on the retreat?
The group is deliberately small. This is not a large retreat. You will be known — not anonymous. The facilitation is responsive to what's actually happening in the group, which requires a group where that's genuinely possible.
What is the cancellation policy?
If the retreat cannot go ahead for any reason on my end, you receive a full refund of everything paid.
If you need to cancel:
More than 90 days before the retreat — your deposit is non-refundable but your balance is fully refunded.
Less than 90 days before — no refund, though if your place can be filled from a waitlist, recoverable amounts will be returned to you.
Places may be transferred to another person in exceptional circumstances — just get in touch.
This is why travel insurance including cancellation cover is not optional — it's essential. Life happens. A good policy means that if something genuinely gets in the way, your investment is protected. Please arrange cover at the time of booking and have proof ready before your place is fully confirmed.
The sooner you arrange it the better — many policies only cover cancellation reasons that arise after the policy is taken out. Arrange it the day you book and you're fully protected from that moment.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes — travel insurance including medical cover and cancellation is mandatory, not optional. Please arrange this at the time of booking. Proof of insurance will be required before your place is fully confirmed.
You’ve been waiting longer.
The only question is whether you’ll let yourself go...
To reserve your place, pay your 50% deposit and send a quick note to let me know you’re in — and whether you’d prefer a single or shared room.
Or email directly: rlbloomuk@gmail.com
