The Radiant Life Retreat

Quiet enough. Long enough. Deep enough.
To discover and reconnect with who you really are.

Bulgaria Mountain Sanctuary · 5–12 September 2026 · Shiroka Laka, Rhodope Mountains

Is This Retreat for You?

There is a minute in the car.

You’ve arrived — the meeting, the school gate, your own driveway — and instead of getting out, you sit. Engine off. Hands still on the wheel. For about sixty seconds nobody needs anything from you.

Most of the women who come on this retreat have that minute. Almost none of them has ever mentioned it to anyone.

This is what it looks like when nobody needs anything from you.

If Any of This Lands

One is enough

You wake at 3am and the thought beneath all the others is: is this it? What was it all for?

On paper you have everything. Inside, something has gone quiet — or flat — and you can't quite name it.

You've become the engine of everything. Reliable, running, never quite off.

You've achieved a great deal. You're beginning to wonder if any of it felt chosen — rather than required.

You've had the holidays, the weekends away, maybe therapy. Each one helped. None of it touched the thing underneath.

Things are good. Or good enough. But underneath there's a quiet question forming: is this as alive as it gets? You want to keep your life. You just want to feel more fully yourself inside it.

“You’ve been so busy building a life. This is the week you remember how to live it.”

Imagine waking up and not immediately reaching for your phone. The room is quiet. The light through the curtains is mountain light — gold and clean and unhurried. There is no alarm. No one needs anything from you yet.

You lie still. And for the first time in longer than you can remember, you don’t feel the weight of everything settling back onto your chest the moment consciousness returns.

That is Tuesday morning. By Friday, people tell me they can’t quite remember what they were so worried about.

There is a particular kind of tiredness that sleep doesn’t fix. The kind that’s still there on Monday morning after a week away. A holiday doesn’t touch it — because the problem isn’t where your body is. It’s what your life has been asking of you, for far too long, without giving enough back.

This retreat exists for that tiredness. Not to paper over it with yoga and mountain views. But to get underneath it — to create the conditions in which something deeper can begin to shift.

The Rhodope Mountains have been doing something to people for centuries. The ancient Greeks called this the Cradle of Orpheus — the place where music, nature, and healing were one and the same thing. You don’t come here to be fixed. You come here to remember who you were before you had to be so capable, so reliable, so constantly on.

You don’t need to be in crisis. You don’t need to be falling apart. You just need to be honest — in that quiet, private way — that something has shifted.

What Becomes Possible This Week.

Sleep improves. For most people significantly. Your body begins to remember what genuine rest feels like — and that it's available to you.

Clarity begins to emerge. Around decisions, directions, things you've been avoiding. Not always fully formed — but clearer than before you arrived.

The gap between your outer and inner life becomes visible. Naming it is the beginning. Many people feel it start to close — at their own pace.

You leave with something concrete. A personal protocol designed around what came up for you during the week. Something to return to on Monday.

Questions you haven't had space to ask begin to surface. What your life has been for. What you want next. For some people the answers form here. For others the retreat plants the seed. Either way, something shifts.

You experience what it feels like to stop performing. Even briefly. That experience becomes the reference point for everything after.

Sound That Reaches What Words Don't

On the Wednesday afternoon, a musician from these mountains comes to play for us. You lie down. Nobody performs anything. The sound moves through your chest rather than your ears, and it quiets something that talking has never quite reached.

This Is Not a Holiday. It Is Something Better.

A holiday gives you a break from your life. A retreat gives you a different relationship with it. That distinction matters — because if you’re coming for a break, you’ll find one. But if you’re coming for what this week actually offers, you’ll find something you won’t get anywhere else.

A Holiday

You stop. You rest. You return. The same life is waiting.

You feel better for two weeks.

The laptop comes with you to the pool.

You're at a beautiful candlelit dinner, present in body but mentally back at your desk thinking about your inbox accumulating.

You come back refreshed but unchanged.

This Retreat

You stop. You go deeper. Something begins to shift.

You return with a clearer sense of what matters — and what you want to do differently.

The phone stays in the room. You don't miss it.

The questions you've been too busy to ask begin to surface.

You return rested at a depth a holiday doesn't reach — and knowing yourself more fully than when you arrived.

Each day builds on the last. You wake to mountain air and morning yoga. You walk ancient forest paths. You eat food grown in the soil you’re standing on. You sit by a fire as the mountains turn dark. And in between — in the yoga, the facilitated sessions, the quiet conversations — questions you’ve been too busy to ask begin to find their way to the surface. Not pushed. Not performed. Just finally, unhurriedly, heard.

Why This Place, Specifically

The Mountains Are Not Just a Beautiful Backdrop

They are doing something to you from the moment you arrive.

The first thing you notice, usually within an hour of arriving, is that your shoulders have dropped. Not because you decided to relax. Because something in the environment has begun to do it for you.

The Rhodope Mountains are ancient pine forest. It has been shown that cortisol — the hormone your body has been running on — drops measurably. Heart rate slows. Blood pressure falls. The nervous system, which has been locked in chronic high alert, begins to shift into something it hasn't inhabited for years: genuine rest.

Research suggests that pine forests release natural compounds into the air. When you breathe them in — walking through the trees, sitting on the hotel terrace, sleeping with the window open — your immune system responds. The body begins, quietly and without effort on your part, to repair itself.

The ancient Greeks believed this landscape carried a special frequency — where healing, music, and nature were one and the same thing. They called this the Cradle of Orpheus. They weren't wrong.

By the second morning, most people stop noticing the silence because they've become part of it. By the third day, something in the mind that has been tightly wound begins to loosen. Not because of anything they've done. Because of where they are.

September is the perfect month. Warm days of 18–22°C, long golden light, cool clear evenings made for fires and stars. The summer crowds are gone. The forests begin their autumn turn. The mountains feel as though they belong only to you.

Where You’ll Stay

Shiroka Laka

A village that has been keeping its own counsel for three hundred years.

There is a sound here on weekday afternoons. It comes through the open windows of the National School of Folk Arts — a low, unhurried drone, a student working the same phrase over and over until it sits right. Nobody in the village looks up. It has always been there.

Shiroka Laka is the only architectural-folkloric reserve of its kind in Bulgaria: ninety-odd white houses with dark timber balconies, stacked up both sides of a narrow river, joined by stone bridges and one cobbled street. It sits at just over a thousand metres, where the houses stop and the mountains begin.

Your hotel sits at the edge of it, in the woodland. In the evenings there is a fire, and the particular quiet that comes when the day’s walking is behind you and nothing further is asked. Your ensuite room looks out at trees and mountain. You will find yourself simply sitting with that view — not scrolling, not planning. That will feel strange for about twenty minutes. Then it will feel like the most natural thing in the world..

7 Nights

Ensuite rooms with mountain views — warm, quiet, built for genuine rest.

All Meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout — at the hotel and in the village. Nothing to think about, nothing to settle.

Full Programme

All retreat sessions, facilitation and group experiences.

Steam & Sauna

Open every day from eight in the morning until eight at night. Nothing to book — simply go.

Not included

Flights and travel to the retreat are arranged independently. The hotel can help you arrange a car from Sofia if you’d like one — that is settled directly with them or paid directly to the driver.

"Every day offered something new — breathtaking landscapes, quiet reflection, and meaningful moments of self-discovery. I returned feeling renewed and deeply connected to myself."

A Sample Week

Your Week in the Mountains

Each day takes you a little deeper — not by adding more, but by gradually removing what has been keeping you switched on. By Wednesday you’ll notice something unfamiliar: you stopped counting the days. By Friday you won’t want to leave.

The schedule below gives you a sense of the week’s rhythm and everything listed is included. That said, no two retreats are identical — the flow adapts to the group, the weather and the moment. If the mountain calls on a different day, we follow it. You’ll receive everything described, in the order that best serves the week.

Sat 5 Sep

Arrival — Let the Mountains Begin Their Work

You arrive. You unpack. You breathe air that doesn't taste of effort. A gentle yoga session to arrive in the body, not perform for it. Welcome dinner — the beginning of something you'll remember. The sauna is waiting. So is your first genuinely deep night's sleep in months.

Sun 6 Sep

The First Layer — Exhale

Morning yoga and breathwork — finding your way back to yourself. Then an evening that happens to fall on the right date: 6th September is Bulgaria's Unification Day, a national holiday. We mark it with a welcome dinner and traditional Rhodope music — the kaba gaida, the low mountain bagpipe you'll been hearing all week through the school windows. A melody played on this very instrument travels on the Voyager Golden Record, sent out of the solar system in 1977. Tonight you hear it a few feet away..

Mon 7 Sep

Into the Wild Rhodope Landscape

A short morning stretch, then boots on and into the ancient forest. Explore the stunning Rhodope Mountains on a leisurely guided walk led by a knowledgeable local guide who will lead us through paths walked for centuries. A pace that lets you actually notice where you are — a conversation with the landscape, not a challenge. You return tired in the best way. Evening yoga, then deep rest.

Tue 8 Sep

The Second Layer — Listen

Morning yoga and breathwork — deep, precise unwinding. A facilitated session: what do you actually want, beneath what you think you should want? This is not therapy. It's listening — to yourself — at a depth ordinary life rarely allows. Evening yoga and the quiet that follows it.

Wed 9 Sep

The Third Layer — See

Morning yoga — something has visibly shifted in the room by now. Optional hand analysis: the blueprint you came in with — your design, your gifts, your purpose. Appreciative Inquiry: what's already working, and what do you want to move toward? Then the afternoon most people remember. A handpan musician who lives an hour from here joins us for two hours — first a workshop, where you play, and then a long guided relaxation while she plays and you do nothing at all. The sound moves through your chest rather than your ears, and it reaches something that talking never quite does.

Thu 10 Sep

The Fourth Layer — Integrate

Morning yoga — consolidating what the week has given you. A free afternoon. Journal, rest, massage, sauna — or simply sit in the sun and let it settle.

Fri 11 Sep

The Last Full Day — Gathering It Up

Morning yoga and breathwork — the room is different to how it was on Saturday evening. Your personal protocol: one thing, specific to you, that carries this home. A last afternoon in the village or on the terrace, however you want it. Closing dinner: stories, laughter, the particular warmth of people who have been somewhere real together..

Sat 12 Sep

You Leave Different to How You Arrived

A gentle travel-prep yoga — carrying the week into the body for the journey home. Final breakfast. Nobody is quite ready to go. Departures. You take the silence with you. It doesn't leave.

What Past Guests Say

They arrived tired. They left different.

four women grinning at a waterfall
A previous retreat - Morocco

"When I arrived, I was stressed, exhausted, and overwhelmed. The experience turned out to be exactly what I needed — immersed in nature, reflecting deeply, and reconnecting with myself. I left feeling lighter, more grounded, and clear about my next steps. This retreat was a turning point for me."

Beverley Anderson

"This retreat pushed me beyond my comfort zone, but in the best ways. I discovered inner strength I didn't know I had. I left feeling calmer, lighter, and uplifted — a truly life-changing experience."

Michelle Noble

"The time away was exactly what I needed to slow down and reset. My takeaway: to declutter my mind, body and spirit — and make space for great and beautiful new experiences."

Gina Clarke

"I joined for the adventure and connection but found so much more. By the end, I was more connected to myself and others, ready to take on new challenges."

Retreat Facilitator · Integrated Whole-Person Practitioner

I know what it feels like to have a life that looks right on paper and feels wrong from the inside. After 13 years in corporate technology — Oracle, then a global CRM company — I reached a turning point that many of the people I now work with will recognise immediately.

I left. Travelled. Found myself doing a yoga teacher training — not to teach, but because I loved the practice. I ended up teaching full time anyway. And in doing so, discovered that yoga in its fullest sense is a complete architecture for a human life.

That led me deeper — into Clean Language and Symbolic Modelling, scientific hand analysis, Appreciative Inquiry facilitation, Conscious Leadership, and an ILM Level 5 Coaching qualification.

What makes this week different is not any single element. It’s that I work with the whole picture — body, mind, purpose, what’s working, what’s been crowded out — simultaneously. These weeks are not about adding more to your life. They’re about remembering what it feels like when it’s yours.

Requesting a place

Fill this in and I’ll come back to you personally within a day — usually sooner. This isn’t a booking; it’s a conversation starting. I read every one of these myself, and nothing is confirmed until you’ve had everything you need and decided you’re in.

Your Place

A Small Group - to ensure a deeply personal experience.

When you request a place I'll confirm availability and come back to you within a day. Nothing is asked of you until I know your room is there.

Included for everyone: your private session

Every guest has a private one-to-one Clarity session with me during the week — thirty to forty minutes on whatever turns out to matter most to you while you're there. Together we'll map where your energy is actually going and design a personal protocol, specific to you, so that what opens up in the mountains comes home with you and stays.

Most People Choose This

Shared Room

£1,900

The same beautifully designed ensuite room, shared with one other guest.

All meals, the full programme, steam room and sauna, and your private Clarity session included. Come with a friend, or let me match you — I do it carefully, and a surprising number of people say afterwards that it turned out to be part of the week rather than a compromise.

Honestly said: in a small group , I can't promise a match. So I confirm your sharer before you pay anything. If nobody suitable comes forward, I'll tell you plainly — and you can either take a single room at £2,150 or simply not come, with anything paid returned in full. You will never find yourself committed to something you didn't choose.

For Solitude

Single Room

£2,150

Your own private sanctuary for all seven nights.

All meals, the full programme, steam room and sauna, and your private Clarity session included. Your own space to return to throughout the week — for those who need solitude as part of the restoration. Certain, and settled the moment you book.

Request Your Place

Once your room is confirmed, £500 secures it, with the balance due within seven days. From 22 August, when we're too close to the dates for that to work, the full amount is payable at booking. Flights are booked independently; transfers are arranged directly with the hotel once you're confirmed.

Coming with someone

Several people arrive as a pair — a friend, a sister, a business partner, someone they've been meaning to have a proper conversation with for two years. It works well. You share a room, you're not obliged to be joined at the hip, and you go home with something in common that isn't work.

If there's someone you'd bring, put both names down and I'll hold the two places together — and the matching question disappears entirely.

Practical Details

Everything You Need to Know

What's included — and what isn't?

Included: seven nights at the hotel in Shiroka Laka, all meals, the full retreat programme, all listed group experiences, your private one-to-one Clarity session with me, and spa, steam room and sauna access throughout..

Not included: flights, travelfrom and to Sofia, snacks, tips and any treatments booked directly with the hotel.

How many people will be on the retreat?

A small group — deliberately so. Small enough that you will be known rather than anonymous, and small enough that the facilitation can respond to what is actually happening in the room rather than following a script.

What happens after I request a place?

I check that the room you've asked for is available, and I write back to you personally — usually the same day, at the latest the next. If it's there, I'll tell you and you can decide. If it isn't, I'll tell you that too, and we'll look at what is.

Nothing is committed and nothing is paid until you have a confirmed room and every question answered. Then £500 holds it with the balance within seven days — or, if we're inside the final fortnight, the full amount at booking. I'll tell you which when I confirm.

What if I want to share but there's nobody to share with?

I'll know before you do, and I'll tell you straight away. I confirm your sharer before any payment is taken, so you're never guessing.

If no suitable match comes forward, you can take a single room at £2,150 or step away entirely with anything paid returned in full. In practice, people who ask to share usually find each other — but I'd rather you knew the position than found out late.

How do I pay?

Once I've confirmed your room, £500 secures it and the balance follows within seven days. If you're booking from 22 August onward we're simply too close to the dates for that to work, so the full amount is payable at booking.

I'll always tell you which applies to you when I confirm your room, so there's nothing to work out.

Is this for solo travellers?

It's made for them. Many participants join alone and find that one of the most unexpected gifts of the week is the quality of connection with others. You will be warmly welcomed from the first evening — and by Saturday, "alone" won't quite be the right word.

Do I need to be experienced at yoga or particularly fit?

Not at all. Sessions are accessible to every level — the emphasis is on precise, grounding movement rather than performance. The mountain walk is taken at a pace that lets you actually notice where you are. This is not a fitness challenge.

How do I get there?

Fly to Sofia. Several London airports have direct flights, and the flight is a little over three hours. Shiroka Laka is about 200km south, roughly two and a half hours by road, and the drive itself is beautiful — the last hour climbs through pine forest along a river.

Travel from Sofia is arranged independently. Most people take a pre-booked car; the hotel is happy to arrange one for you if you ask them, payable directly to the driver. If you'd like to travel alongside others arriving the same day, tell me and I'll put you in touch.

What is September like in the Rhodopes?

Early September is extraordinary — warm days of 18–22°C, long golden light, cool clear evenings made for fires and stars. The summer crowds are entirely gone. The forests begin their autumn turn. The mountains feel as though they belong only to you.

What is the cancellation policy?

If I have to cancel the retreat, you will receive a full refund of everything you have paid to me, in accordance with your rights under UK consumer and package travel law. Where a retreat is cancelled for reasons outside my control, any amounts I am unable to recover from the venue or other suppliers will be handled in line with those rights, and I will always tell you clearly and promptly what applies.

Because we are now close to the retreat dates, rooms are committed to the hotel as they're booked. Your £500 deposit is non-refundable once your room is confirmed and paid for — with one exception: if you asked to share and I can't find you a match, everything you've paid is returned in full.

After the balance is paid, refunds aren't possible, though if your place can be filled from the waiting list, recoverable amounts will be returned to you. Places may be transferred to another person — just get in touch.

This is exactly why travel insurance including cancellation cover is essential rather than optional. Arrange it the day you book: many policies only cover reasons that arise after the policy is taken out, so booking cover early protects you from that moment onward.

Another year of the same question unanswered: is this it?
You already know what that year costs. You've been paying it.
